John Bates from Bater Designs is a self taught emerging artist from New York City. With an upbringing just outside of Detroit MI, John has a resume of awards for his artwork and solo art shows throughout his career, and has participated in a non-profit community organization called Clarkston Cultural Arts, that he explains, highlights local talented artists throughout various surrounding communities, while being immersed in the art world. Within this organization, John has sold original pieces through art fairs, silent auction art shows, taught screen printing classes, and was named 2016's most influential artist, as he soon explored various solo shows. CCA led him into a new direction with his artistic style and vision where he now resides in Queens, NY to take his art to the next stage in his career.
John describes his methods of creating, by using Abstract/Realism with the twist of Contemporary/Street, depending on the artistic vision that is needed. The idea is to take hand drawn sketches or personal photography, and bring them to life using various styles and effects, using the simplicity and beauty of everyday emotions. These are captured through client commission projects, and his individually explored artistic taste. John uses mainly Acrylic, Pen & Ink, and Watercolor to capture his visions.
